1 Paisa - Mir Khudadad Khan Ahmedzai Baloch

Kalat occupied an awkward position throughout the mid-nineteenth century — nominally independent under British suzerainty following the 1876 treaty that formalized the Khan's subordination to the Crown, yet still issuing its own copper coinage. Mir Khudadad Khan's long reign was marked by persistent tension with British India, including his forced abdication in 1893 after refusing to accept terms that would have effectively dissolved the Khanate's administrative autonomy.

KM#21 copper paisas from this reign are irregular in both flan preparation and striking pressure, a reflection of the rudimentary local mint at Kalat rather than any production policy.
