| Obverse description | Irregular hammered copper flan bearing a bold three-line Devanagari inscription arranged in a grid-like format within the field. The legend reads 'श्री / राजा / शंभू' (Shri / Raja / Shambhu), a royal invocation to Sambhaji Maharaj. The characters are rendered in raised relief with characteristic thick strokes typical of Maratha hammered coinage. The flat, unadorned field shows natural striking irregularities and granular surface texture consistent with seventeenth-century indigenous mint practice. A row of small pellets is partially visible along the lower rim. |
