| Obverse description | Central field bears a two-line Persian inscription enclosed within a dotted circular border, rendered in a bold, somewhat crude hammered style typical of princely state coinage. The upper line reads the Hijri date 1255, while the lower two lines read 'Sika Bhopal' (سیکا بوپال), denoting the issuing authority of the Bhopal state mint. The lettering is deeply struck in relief against a granular, irregular flan, with the dotted inner circle serving as the primary decorative border element. No pictorial device or additional ornament accompanies the inscription. The overall execution reflects the anonymous local workshop production characteristic of early nineteenth-century Bhopal copper coinage. |
