Beschrijving voorzijde Central field occupied by a bold Arabic inscription arranged in multiple lines, giving the ruler's name and title, with the date below. To the right, a stylized palm or plant motif is rendered in low relief. The legends are executed in a cursive Naskh-style script characteristic of early twentieth-century Afghan coinage. The flan is irregular and slightly ragged at the edges, consistent with the hand-struck production methods employed at the Kabul mint during this period.

Aanvullende informatie

Amanullah Khan came to power in February 1919 following the assassination of his father Habibullah, and within months had launched the Third Anglo-Afghan War — a brief but politically decisive conflict that secured Afghan control over foreign affairs from Britain. This paisa was struck in the immediate aftermath, as Amanullah moved to assert full sovereignty through institutional reform, including the reorganization of the coinage system. The 1920 issues represent his early monetary program before the more ambitious metrological reforms of the mid-1920s.
