| Reverse description | Three horizontal lines of Kannada script inscription arranged across the field, separated by two incuse ruled lines dividing the reverse into three registers. Each register contains a portion of the royal dedicatory legend reading 'Sri Somesvara Deva', the Kannada characters rendered in the rounded, distinctive script of 12th-century Karnataka. The inscription fills the entire field of the flan in a bold, if somewhat crude, hammered execution consistent with workshop production of the Chalukya period. |
