Obverse description Central device features a large sankha (sacred conch shell) depicted in high relief, surmounted by a flame finial, with two conjoined stems or torches flanking its base. The central device is enclosed within a wreath of leafy branches tied at the base with the royal conch-and-crossed-swords emblem of Travancore. The border consists of a fine beaded inner ring, with the overall design rendered in a bold, stylised South Indian artistic tradition. The field is flat and unlettered, with all decorative elements contained within the wreath.
