| Descrizione del dritto | The Royal Arms of Tonga rendered in fine relief at the centre of the field, enclosed within a raised inner circle. The shield displays a white cross on a red ground in chief, three six-pointed stars, and a dove with an olive branch, supported by elaborate scrollwork. Two Tongan national flags on staffs flank the shield, surmounted by a royal crown within a wreath of laurel. A ribbon below the shield bears the national motto in Tongan script. The legend KINGDOM OF TONGA arcs along the upper periphery within a beaded border, with the date 1999 inscribed in the lower field. |

| Descrizione del rovescio | A central depiction of the Haʻamonga ʻa Maui, the ancient coral limestone trilithon erected in the 13th century on the island of Tongatapu, consisting of two upright monoliths supporting a horizontal capstone, set within an open landscape. The monument, sometimes referred to as the Stonehenge of the Pacific, is rendered with careful architectural detail. The legend MILLENNIUM 2000 arcs above the central motif, while the denomination 1 PAʻANGA appears in the lower field, all within the characteristic scalloped border of the coin. |
