| Obverse description | The central field displays the Royal Coat of Arms of the Kingdom of Tonga, featuring a quartered shield with a central cross, three stars, and a dove, surmounted by a royal crown flanked by laurel branches. Two Tongan flags serve as supporters on either side of the shield. A scrolled ribbon banner at the base of the arms bears the royal motto in Tongan. The circular legend KINGDOM OF TONGA arcs along the upper periphery, while the date 2002 appears in the lower field, all set against a frosted, mirror-polished proof field with a beaded inner border. |
