| Obverse description | Central device features the national emblem of Mauritania: a crescent and star above a spray of millet and acacia branches, all rendered in relief against a flat field. The star appears prominently at the centre of the crescent. The circular Arabic legend reading 'الجمهورية الإسلامية الموريتانية' (The Islamic Republic of Mauritania) runs along the upper periphery.
