| Obverse description | St. Mark, the patron saint of Venice, is depicted seated at left, presenting a staff bearing a cross and pennant to the kneeling Doge Nicolò da Ponte at right, in a traditional investiture scene. The composition conveys the spiritual authority delegated by the Evangelist to the temporal ruler. The date appears in the exergue.
