| Obverse description | Saint Mark, nimbed and seated on the left, raises his right hand in benediction toward the kneeling Doge Alvise Mocenigo III, who faces him in a posture of veneration at right. Between the two figures, a tall processional standard topped with a cross and the Lion of Saint Mark on a banner separates them compositionally. The scene is rendered in fine relief within a beaded border, with the legend divided across the field. The inscription around the periphery reads S·M·V·ALOY·MOCENI·D·, with ANN·VI· and P·Q· distributed in the lower field, indicating the sixth year of the doge's reign. |
