Obverse description Central field depicts a stylized sailing ship (cog) in profile, rendered in low relief with a prominent central mast bearing a cross-topped crow's nest, typical of Hanseatic civic heraldry. The hull is shown with striated planking and a rudder, flanked by waves indicated in schematic form. The design is enclosed within a beaded inner circle, with the legend running in the outer margin. The crude, vigorous style is characteristic of mid-14th-century Gotlandic die-cutting, with irregular flan edges resulting from hand-hammered production.
