| Obverse description | Central field depicts a lamb passant to the right, rendered in a crude medieval style characteristic of hammered billon coinage; the animal is shown with its body in profile and head turned forward. The lamb, a traditional symbol of Christian piety and civic identity, occupies the majority of the flan. A partial circular legend in uncial Latin script surrounds the central device, though the inscription is often weakly struck and partially legible due to the irregular flan. The overall execution reflects the provincial die-cutting style of the Visby mint in the mid-fourteenth century. |
