| Obverse description | Central crowned shield bearing a rampant lion passant guardant, the shield surmounted by a royal crown with elaborate floral and foliate decoration. The date 1715 is divided by the shield, with '17' to the left and '15' to the right. The royal cypher 'C XII' appears at the upper left of the crown and 'R.S.' at the upper right, forming the legend 'C XII R.S.' around the crown. The rim is decorated with a fine milled border of repeated denticles. |
