| Reversbeschreibung | Central crowned shield bearing the arms of Zeeland: a lion rampant emerging from a barry wavy field, symbolizing the province's struggle against the sea, set within an ornate cartouche with elaborate scrollwork supporters. An elaborate floral crown surmounts the shield, its two flanking numerals dividing the date 1669. The encircling Latin legend LVCTOR · ET · EMERGO — the motto of Zeeland — runs continuously around the periphery, separated by pellets. |

Zeeland minted its own oord coinage independently of the other Dutch provinces, a reflection of the fractious provincial autonomy that defined the Republic's monetary system. The silver oord was a small-denomination workhorse coin, produced to satisfy local transactional demand at a time when Zeeland's maritime economy — built on trade through Middelburg and Flushing — required reliable small change in quantity. By 1669, the province was still asserting its minting rights despite ongoing pressure from Holland to consolidate coinage standards across the Republic.
HPM Ze 86.1 identifies this as a specific Zeeland type; collectors should note that provincial oord coinage of this period is notoriously inconsistently struck, a known production characteristic rather than a grade consideration.
