| Obverse description | Central field occupied by the arms of Utrecht — a shield divided diagonally, the lower half hatched to indicate tincture, surmounted by a fleur-de-lis finial above the shield's upper edge. The shield is rendered in a bold, slightly irregular hammered style characteristic of late sixteenth-century Low Countries coinage. A circular legend in Latin capital letters runs around the periphery, separated by cross stops, within a beaded border. |
