| Obverse description | Central shield bearing the crowned quartered arms of Batenburg-Bronckhorst, impaled or overlaid by the arms of Gronsveld, flanked on either side by a stylized floral ornament. The shield is surmounted by a decorative crown rendered in the manner typical of late sixteenth-century hammered Low Countries coinage. A continuous Latin legend encircles the design, naming the issuing lord as John, Count of Bronckhorst. |

| Additional information |
Gronsveld was a tiny lordship wedged between the Spanish Netherlands and the Prince-Bishopric of Liège, its lords perpetually navigating competing jurisdictions to maintain the right to strike their own coinage. John II exercised that right aggressively, and the oord issues attributed to his long rule show considerable die variation across the nearly three-decade span — vdCh 8#10.2 distinguishes at least one specific subtype within what is otherwise a loosely documented series.
The lordship was absorbed into the County of Gronsveld in 1617, the same year this issue ceases.
