Obverse description Central device features a Phrygian liberty cap in high relief surrounded by radiating sunrays filling the field, evoking the classic Mexican cap-and-rays design. The legend LIBERTAD appears inscribed on a band across the base of the cap. The rim is bordered by a continuous beaded edge.
