Obverse description A crowned imperial eagle displayed in high relief occupies the lower left and center of the field, its head turned to the right with feathers rendered in fine detail. The legend ONZA IMPERIAL appears in two lines to the upper right, with the date 2018 below, and the Mo mint mark visible to the left of the eagle's neck.

Reverse description The central device depicts the Cross of the Order of Guadalupe (the Imperial Cross), rendered as a Maltese-style cross with radiating sunburst behind it and olive branches flanking at each diagonal corner, the whole surmounted by ball-tipped points. At the center of the cross is an oval medallion bearing a bearded left-facing portrait bust of Emperor Maximilian I of Mexico. The mint mark M appears in the lower exergue.
