| Reverse description | Eagle with open, spread wings perched in left profile atop a thunderbolt, the weapon rendered with characteristic zigzag projections. The bird is depicted with strong, naturalistic musculature in the breast and folded tail feathers, consistent with the iconographic tradition borrowed from Roman and Magna Graecian coinage of the period. The composition fills the flan without legend or exergual inscription. The overall style reflects the influence of Greek engraving traditions as transmitted through the Campanian and South Italian minting centres. |
