| Obverse description | Facing crowned royal portrait in high relief at center, rendered in the bold, simplified style characteristic of late medieval Swedish hammered coinage. The crowned head is depicted frontally with schematic facial features, flanked by hair falling to either side, all set within a beaded inner circle. The royal legend ERICVS REX, identifying King Erik of Pommern, runs around the periphery in uncial lettering, separated by ornamental stops. The overall design is contained within an irregular flan typical of hand-struck medieval issues. |
