| Obverse description | Central field features a large Gothic letter 'A' surmounted by a royal crown, rendered in bold relief characteristic of late medieval Swedish hammered coinage. The crowned initial serves as a monogram for King Albert (Albrecht) of Mecklenburg. The central device is enclosed within a beaded inner circle. The surrounding legend in uncial Latin lettering reads MONETA + KALMARN +, denoting the mint of Kalmar, and is contained between the beaded inner border and the irregular outer rim of the flan. |
