Obverse description The obverse features the Peruvian national coat of arms at center, depicting a vicuña in the upper left canton, a cinchona tree in the upper right canton, and a cornucopia in the lower half, all within a shield. The shield is flanked by branches of palm and laurel tied with a ribbon at the base, and surmounted by a civic wreath. The circular legend BANCO CENTRAL DE RESERVA DEL PERU arcs around the upper periphery, with the date 2011 inscribed along the lower periphery. The coin is struck in an octagonal-edged round flan, giving the field a distinctive chamfered appearance.
