Obverse description The Peruvian national coat of arms occupies the central field, depicting the three traditional quarters — a vicuña, a cinchona tree, and a cornucopia — flanked by palm and laurel branches tied at the base. The circular legend BANCO CENTRAL DE RESERVA DEL PERÚ arcs across the upper field, while the denomination UN NUEVO SOL is prominently inscribed below the arms, with the date 1994 at the bottom. The weight specification 16.9676 g appears to the lower left and the gold fineness ORO 916 to the lower right of the denomination. A dashed inner border encircles the entire design, consistent with the Lima Mint's presentation style for commemorative gold issues.
