Reverse description The reverse presents a floriated cross pattée at the centre, its four arms terminating within a quadrilobe frame composed of four large cusped arches, each lobe containing a lion passant or a fleur-de-lis alternately, referencing the royal arms of England and France. The central cross divides the field into four quarters, each decorated with additional floral and heraldic motifs in Gothic style. A small crown or initial mark appears at the intersection of the cross. The surrounding legend, in Gothic Latin lettering, carries the biblical verse from Luke 4:30 alluding to divine protection of the king.
