| Beschrijving keerzijde | The reverse features a large floriated cross with the letter H at its center, dividing the field into four quarters each containing a crowned lion passant guardant. The entire design is enclosed within a polylobe or cusped tressure, with ornamental trefoils filling the spandrels between the lobes, creating an elaborate Gothic framework typical of the Lancastrian noble series. The composition is bold and symmetrical, reflecting the high-relief hammered craftsmanship of the period. The surrounding legend in Gothic uncial script carries the well-known apotropaic Scriptural text: IhC AVTEm TRAnSIEnS PER mEDIV` ILLORV IBAT. |
