| Obverse description | King Edward III depicted half-length and crowned, standing facing within a ship, brandishing a sword in his right hand and bearing a shield quartered with the arms of England and France in his left. The hull of the ship is rendered with overlapping strakes, and a rope with multiple loops borders the coin. An annulet appears before the initial ED in the legend. The surrounding Latin legend names the king as Edward, by the Grace of God King of England and France, Lord of Ireland, rendered in uncial Gothic lettering characteristic of the Post-Treaty period. |
