Beschrijving voorzijde The obverse depicts a crowned and armored king standing facing in a ship, holding a sword in his right hand and a shield bearing heraldic devices in his left, in the tradition of the English noble type. The ship's hull and rigging are rendered with fine hammered detail characteristic of early sixteenth-century Scandinavian goldsmithing. A royal crown surmounts the king's figure, with the hull of the vessel occupying the lower portion of the field. The surrounding legend, rendered in Gothic lettering, reads CHRISTIERNVS DEI GRACIA REX DACIE SVECIE AC NORVEG, identifying the issuer as Christian II, by the Grace of God King of Denmark, Sweden, and Norway.

Beschrijving keerzijde The reverse presents a floriated cross with a central rosette or lis motif at its intersection, dividing the field into four quarters each containing a crowned heraldic lion or similar royal device, following the established noble typology. The arms of the cross terminate in trefoil or fleur-de-lis finials, reflecting the Gothic decorative vocabulary of the period. The surrounding legend, in Latin, reads XPS IHS ELEGIT ME REGEM POPVLO SVO IN ANO E9 1518, translating as 'Christ Jesus has chosen me as king for his people in the year 1518,' asserting the divine mandate of Christian II's rule. The date 1518 appears within the legend, providing an important chronological anchor for this rare Danish gold issue.
