Beschrijving keerzijde A facing portrait of Yitzhak Rabin dominates the central field, rendered in fine relief with strong modelling of the facial features. A circular border legend surrounds the portrait, inscribed 'YITZHAK RABIN 1922 – 1995' in Latin script and 'יצחק רבין התרפ״ב – התשנ״ה' in Hebrew, giving his birth and death years in both Gregorian and Hebrew calendar notation. The design commemorates the assassinated Israeli Prime Minister and Nobel Peace Prize laureate.

Aanvullende informatie

Issued one year after the initial 1996 commemorative series marking Rabin's assassination in November 1995, this coin was part of Bank of Israel's ongoing memorial program. Rabin was shot by Yigal Amir at a peace rally in Tel Aviv's Kings of Israel Square — now Rabin Square — after signing the Oslo Accords, making him one of the few sitting heads of government assassinated in the post-Cold War period.

The Bank of Israel has a long history of issuing silver commemoratives tied to state anniversaries and national figures, but politically motivated memorial issues of this kind remain comparatively rare in the series.
