Obverse description The obverse features the State Emblem of Israel — the menorah flanked by olive branches — centrally placed above the face value '1 New Sheqel' rendered in Hebrew and English. The legend 'ISRAEL' appears in English, Hebrew (ישראל), and Arabic (إسرائيل) distributed around the field. To the left, a decorative element depicts the Tablets of the Law, inscribed in ancient Hebrew letters with the opening word of each of the Ten Commandments and surrounded by a radiating glow. The mint year appears in both Gregorian (2005) and Hebrew (התשס״ה) notation. Along the border, the inscription 'MOSES AND THE TEN COMMANDMENTS EXOD. 20:34' is rendered in Hebrew, English, and Arabic.
