Additional information

Piedfort issues from the Bank of Israel in this period were struck as collector presentation pieces, doubled in thickness against the standard circulation planchet. The 1988 "Foundation" series marked the 40th anniversary of Israeli independence, a program that produced parallel issues in several metals and formats simultaneously.

KM#P44 belongs to the nickel piedfort tier — the most modest in the set hierarchy, yet the least frequently encountered in intact original packaging.
