| Reverse description | A dynamic high-relief depiction of the blinded Samson straining with outstretched arms against two massive stone pillars of the Philistine House of Dagon, his broken chains still hanging from his wrists. The figure is rendered in a powerful, muscular stance at center, conveying both anguish and tremendous physical force. Fragments of the collapsing architecture fill the field to the left and right, heightening the dramatic tension of the biblical scene from Judges 16. The mirror-like proof fields provide a stark, polished contrast to the finely frosted sculptural elements. No inscriptions appear on the reverse. |
