Madho Singh II died in 1922, meaning this coin was struck posthumously in his name — a deliberate political fiction maintained by the Jaipur mint decades after his death. The nazarana rupee was a presentation-grade striking, never intended for commerce, produced for ceremonial gifting at court or to dignitaries. By 1949, Indian Independence had already dissolved the framework of princely authority, making this one of the final gasps of a mint issuing coins under a dead maharaja and a departed British king simultaneously.
