Obverse description Round cast brass cash coin with a central square hole framed by a raised inner rim. Four Chinese characters are arranged in cruciform fashion around the central aperture, reading clockwise from the top: 常 (top), 寶 (right), 平 (bottom), and 通 (left), forming the legend 常平通寶 — the standard inscription of the Joseon Sangpyeong Tongbo coinage. The flat field shows typical cast surface texture with a plain outer rim.
