| Obverse description | Round brass cash coin with a central square perforation, characteristic of the Korean mun series. Four Chinese characters are arranged in the four quadrants surrounding the square hole, reading clockwise from the top: 常 (top), 寶 (right), 通 (bottom... reading top-right-bottom-left as 常寶通平, meaning 'Circulating Treasure'). The raised characters appear in regular script (kaishu) style against a flat field, framed by a raised inner square rim and an outer circular rim. |
