Reverse description Round bronze cash coin reverse with a central square hole framed by a raised inner rim. Three Chinese characters in regular script (kaishu) are distributed around the perforation: 開 (above), 三 (right), and 天 (below), reading 開天三 — indicating the issuing office abbreviation 開 for Kaesong (Kaeseong) and the series number 三 (three), with 天 (Heaven) denoting the batch designation. The left field bears a crescent mark. Characters appear in bold relief against a flat field, enclosed by a plain outer rim.
