| Obverse description | Round bronze cash coin with a central square hole framed by a raised inner rim. Four Chinese characters in regular script (kaishu) are arranged in cruciform fashion around the central perforation: 常 (above), 通 (right), 平 (below), and 寶 (left), reading 常平通寶 — 'Eternal Circulating Treasure' — the standard legend of Joseon Dynasty cash coinage. The characters are rendered in bold relief against a flat field, with a plain raised outer rim encircling the design. |
