Reading top-to-bottom and right-to-left in the traditional manner, the characters read 常平通寶 (Sangpyong Tongbo), identifying the coin as currency of the Sangpyong (Ever-Normal) treasury administration of the Korean Yi Dynasty. The characters are rendered in regular script (kaishu) within a plain, unadorned field, with no additional ornamentation. |
