Obverse description Cast bronze cash coin of the Joseon Dynasty featuring the four-character reign legend 常平通寶 (Sangpyeong Tongbo) arranged in the traditional cruciform pattern around a central square perforation. The characters are rendered in regular script (kaishu), reading top-to-bottom and right-to-left, with 常 at the top, 寶 at the bottom, 通 to the right, and 平 to the left. The field is flat and unadorned, bordered by a plain raised inner rim surrounding the square hole and a plain outer rim. The overall casting is typical of the Joseon monetary tradition, with visible surface texture consistent with sand-cast production.
