Beschrijving keerzijde Cast bronze reverse with a central square hole framed by a raised square collar. Two Chinese characters in regular script are positioned around the aperture: the mint identifier 戸 (Ho, Treasury Department) appears above the hole, and the series number 四 (four) appears below, indicating this piece belongs to the fourth series of the Treasury Department issue. The field is plain and unornamented, with a flat outer rim consistent with the cast production technique.

Aanvullende informatie

The Ho ("戶") series mun coins were struck by the Joseon Treasury Department (Hojo) as part of a broader attempt to stabilize copper currency circulation after decades of inconsistent provincial minting had flooded the kingdom with debased and underweight cash. The ten recognized varieties cataloged under KM#500.1–500.10 reflect differences in mint marks and reverse characters identifying specific furnaces within the Treasury's operations — a bureaucratic traceability system more than a collector convenience.

Joseon's cash coinage never achieved the deep market penetration seen in China or Japan; barter and cloth remained exchange media in rural provinces well into this coin's production run.
