Obverse description Cast bronze cash coin with a central square hole framed by a raised square collar. Four Chinese characters in regular script (kaishu) are arranged in cruciform fashion around the central aperture, reading clockwise from the top: 常 (top), 通 (right), 平 (bottom), 寶 (left), forming the legend 常平通寶 (Sangpyeong Tongbo), the standard inscription of Joseon Dynasty cash coinage. The flat, undecorated field displays typical cast surface texture with a plain outer rim.
