The 1 Mun was the lowest denomination in the Joseon monetary system, and by the mid-nineteenth century the dynasty was struggling to maintain consistent coinage output across dozens of authorized casting furnaces spread between government ministries, military offices, and provincial agencies. KM#62 is attributable to the Hojo — the Board of Revenue — one of the few minting authorities still operating with any regularity by 1852. Individual furnaces produced coins of noticeably varying fabric, and attribution often relies on the reverse workshop characters rather than any die consistency.
