Reverse description Cast copper reverse featuring the central square perforation with a raised square border. Above the hole, the mint control character 戸 (Ho), denoting the Treasury Department (Hojo), is rendered in regular script. Below the hole, the series number 九 (9) identifies this piece as belonging to series nine of the Ho mint issue. The field is otherwise plain, with a wide, flat rim. These mint and series marks served as administrative identifiers within the Joseon cash coin production system.
