| Obverse description | Central square perforation surrounded by a plain inner rim, with four Chinese characters in clerical script (lishu) arranged in cruciform order around the hole. Reading top-to-bottom and right-to-left, the legend reads 東國重寶 (Tong Guk Chung Bo), meaning 'Heavy Treasure of the Eastern Nation.' The characters are rendered in bold, squared strokes characteristic of Goryeo cast coinage, set within a flat, unadorned field bounded by a plain outer rim. The flan shows typical casting irregularities along the edges, consistent with the hand-casting methods employed during the Goryeo dynasty. |
