| Obverse description | Central square hole surrounded by a raised rim on both the inner and outer edges. The four-character inscription is arranged in cruciform fashion around the central perforation: reading top to bottom, 常平 (Sangpyeong, referring to the Joseon government agency responsible for currency issuance, the Sangpyeongcheong or Directorate of Ever-Normal Goods), and reading right to left, 通寶 (Tongbo, meaning 'circulating treasure' or currency). Characters are rendered in traditional Chinese regular script (kaishu) in the style typical of Joseon cash coinage. |

| Reverse description | Central square hole flanked by mint and series markings in the fields. The mint mark 捻 (Chong, denoting the General Military Office, 捻戎廳 Chongyungcheong) appears at the top, with the series number 七 (seven) at the bottom. A crescent symbol is positioned in the left field, a characteristic feature used to differentiate issues among the numerous Joseon cash coin series. All characters and devices are cast in traditional Chinese regular script, consistent with Joseon dynasty numismatic convention. |
