Obverse description A standing peacock displayed in full, facing left, with its elaborate tail feathers fanned out in a broad semicircular spread filling the upper field. The bird stands atop a decorative platform or plinth at the base. Burmese script characters are arranged symmetrically around the peacock in the field, flanking the design to the left and right. The rim is bordered by a fine beaded or toothed border. The peacock, the royal symbol of the Konbaung dynasty, is rendered in high relief with considerable decorative detail.
