1 Möngö

The 1959 Möngö series was struck following Mongolia's monetary reforms of the late 1950s, as the country standardized its currency under close Soviet economic guidance. Aluminium was the prescribed material for the lowest denominations across Soviet-aligned states during this period — cheap, lightweight, and wholly unsuited to long-term circulation, which is precisely why uncirculated examples are harder to source than the mintage figures alone would suggest.
