| Opis awersu | Cast gold coin of traditional East Asian cash-coin form, featuring a central square perforation surrounded by four Chinese characters in regular script (kaisho) disposed in cruciform arrangement around the aperture. Reading top-bottom, right-left in the classical manner: 天 (Ten) above, 通 (tsū) to the right, 寳 (hō) to the left, and 正 (shō) below, together forming the legend 天正通寳 — 'Currency of Tenshō.' The raised characters stand in bold relief against the flat inner field, framed by a slightly raised inner rim around the square hole and a plain outer rim. The surfaces display the characteristic texture of cast gold production, consistent with late Sengoku-period Japanese monetary practice under Toyotomi Hideyoshi. |
