| Obverse description | Four Chinese characters in regular script (kaishu) arranged symmetrically around a central square perforation, reading clockwise from the top: 天 (tiān), 聖 (shèng), 寳 (bǎo), 元 (yuán), forming the legend 'Tenseigenpō'. Each character is rendered in bold, well-defined relief within the circular field, separated by the corners of the square hole. The coin exhibits a wide, plain rim enclosing the inscription. |
