| Beschrijving voorzijde | Square cast iron coin with rounded corners, featuring a central square perforation (cash-hole) surrounded by a raised inner rim. Four Chinese characters are arranged in cruciform fashion around the central hole, reading clockwise from the top: 仙 (top), 臺 (right), 寶 (bottom), 通 (left), forming the legend 仙臺通寶 (Sendai Tsūhō). The characters are rendered in a bold, angular style typical of Edo-period Japanese domain coinage. The obverse field is plain, framed by a raised outer border following the coin's rounded square profile. |
